Easter time
It’s still Easter and I did want to write something to mark the occasion. I welcomed 6 into the Church Saturday evening and I truly believe it was a night of grace. We have five more going to an adult Confirmation, that’s 11 from my parish collaborative. The Archdiocese of Boston has had a record surge in OCIA this year and every priest I talk to says they’ve seen an uptick. Across the country this trend is happening as well. So much so the New York Times even wrote about it recently. Catholicism and Orthodox Christianity are on the rise and its young people, Gen Z, that are leading the charge. All 11 of our folks are under the age of 35!
Fellow Christians we cannot let this moment pass or go to waste, we must figure out ways to retain these young people. I say a reverent Mass and access to the sacraments is key, as is good preaching but we cannot diminish the idea of community. That’s important and we have it.
So, happy Easter friends and let us continue to serve our community and each other!
Peace!

Did you have a good Easter
